With Ezequiel Ponce coming to Houston, Ferreira delivered a performance that has fans suddenly wondering if the Paraguayan striker might still have a place on this team after all.

Things didn’t start off well for Houston. Despite having some decent chances in the first half, they weren’t able to put the ball into the net. On the other side of the pitch, D.C. United received a penalty call which allowed them to get an early lead. When it came to Ben Olsen’s message to the team at halftime, he knew they were still in this match.

“It wasn’t panic time (at the half). I think we understood that they caught us in a transition moment,” Olsen said. “It wasn’t a bad first half; it could have been better.”

It didn’t take long for the Dynamo to find an equalizer. Matai Akinmboni touched the ball with his hands in the box, leading to a penalty. Ferreira was the player that took the opportunity, and his clean finish was successful.

Just a couple of minutes later, Ferreira found his second goal of the game. Amine Bassi passed the ball to the Dynamo striker who was able to get enough power behind the ball to pass it past the keeper.

In the 64th minute, things went from bad to worse for D.C. when Benteke was sent off for his second yellow card of the match. It was the first of two red cards in the game for D.C.

In the last couple of minutes, Ferreira was able to find his third goal, while Gabe Segal also found the scoresheet in stoppage time.

Estoy muy contento de anotar tres goles,” Sebas Ferreira said after the match. “Todo para ayudar al equipo es bueno.”

Houston will now host Charlotte on June 29 as Ben Olsen and his side try to turn around their subpar form at home so far this season.
