Tom Bogert has just announced the signing of Jack McGlynn to the Dynamo. He was traded using cash between the Dynamo and the Philadelphia Union. According to Tom, the reported fee is around 2 million dollars with a substantial sell-on clause.

This signing comes as a shock to Dynamo fans who were expecting the replacement of Hector Herrera to come from an international team. Jack brings in international experience with the USMNT and a track record of high chance creation for the Union.

Instant thoughts? This signing checks all the boxes. Even with a high sell-on clause, this is a type of player that can balloon in value and fits the style of play Ben Olsen wants to execute. This signing also means that the search for a DP 10 still goes on, and the Dynamo have a chance at making another bombshell move that could put the league on notice.

Jack also can play wide, similar to the role Coco played last year in a sense that he can operate in the half spaces, perhaps not as well as a true 10. However, his versatility is commendable and should serve nicely.

My further thoughts on this signing and the other offseason moves will come soon in a mega article that I’ve been working on. Stay tuned!
