Kenny Bundy’s DynaDos side have done well to get points out of games that they perhaps shouldn’t have, but penalty shootouts have been the Achilles heel of this young team. Once again, the team failed to grab an extra point from penalties, but I am sure that the team is content with one point away from home.
The game started off really well for DynaDos when Ousmane Sylla drew a penalty in the fourth minute. Sylla took the penalty himself and delivered a clean finish into the top corner that gave his team the lead.
From that point on, however, KC dominated all facets of the match, and it seemed like the home side was going to break through eventually.
In the 18th minute, Kieran Sargeant was able to keep Houston’s lead after denying an attempt from Kamron Habibullah and Sebastian Cruz who combined to play a dangerous one-two.
Not long after, in the 32nd minute, Sporting KC was able to tie the match after Cruz delivered a nice ball to Johann Ortiz at the near post.
Six minutes afterwards, Diego Gonzalez delivered a ball into the box, but it was cleared by the opposition backline.
To start off the second half, Maddox Findlay, who came on as a substitute in the 47th minute, was found by Sylla in the final third, but the ensuing shot was off the mark.
In the 54th minute, Nico Hansen made one of his two saves in the match. Ortiz had an open opportunity, but the Dynamo 2 goalkeeper who has been filling the starting role in Valdez’s absence made a nice stop.
In the 71st minute, DynaDos found their second goal of the match thanks to Sylla. The Clemson product scored after Sebastian Rodriguez forced a turnover which led to some combination play from Kenny Bundy’s side. Eventually, the ball found Sylla, who delivered a tidy finish.
In the 86th minute, KC found an equalizer once again after Maouloune Goumballe found a loose ball after a corner kick was delivered into the box from Ethan Bryant.
In the penalty shootout, Hansen was unable to save any penalties while Kieran Sargeant missed his own attempt.
DynaDos will return to action on June 16 against St. Louis before returning home on June 23. Tickets for home matches are free and available down below.
