Coming off their worst performance of the year so far against Tampa Bay, Sacramento looked to rebound on the road against Monterey. The Republic attacked looked back on form as they put 2 goals past Monterey. Kieran Phillips and Cristian Parano were the goal scorers on the night.
Monterey have quietly been a surprise this season. They are currently 3rd in the Western Conference and could actually overtake Sacramento in the standings with a win here. The last time out for Monterey was a 1-0 win over current conference leaders New Mexico.
Sacramento had a rough time out in their last game against Tampa Bay. They were dealt their first loss of the season on that night, losing 1-0. Hopefully, the new signing of Justin Portillo is enough to turn things around against a tough Monterey team. The last time these two clubs met was in this year's Open Cup where Sacramento came away with a 2-0 victory.
