What is it with these weather delays? Houston found themselves in a little spout of bad weather against Minnesota United, but once the skies cleared and fans returned to their seats, it was game time at Shell Energy Stadium.

The game started off with both sides looking timid and scared to progress play. After a couple minutes of Minnesota dominance, the Dynamo began to control possession of this match and even began creating opportunities of their own.

Nevertheless, the first half was, in its entirety, a calm affair, with only a few chances between the Dynamo and Minnesota. However, Ben Olsen’s team was starting to control the pace of the game entering the second half.

Houston’s best player in the half was Bassi, who really made his presence known in the midfield. There’s a reason Bassi is considered to be one of the better attacking midfielders in the Western Conference.

The second half started similarly to the first, but Minnesota was able to score first in the 70th minute due to a slight collapse on the right side of the field. Houston would have to play more desperately if they were to salvage any kind of result.

As time ticked on, and subs began to come in, the Dynamo started to enter panic mode. Thankfully, Sebas Ferreira scored yet again to give Houston some life. It was a tidy finish from the Paraguayan striker, who has started to pick up form with Ezequiel Ponce’s arrival beginning to loom.

Unfortunately for Houston, a winner would not come, and they would have to settle for a draw against a stingy Minnesota squad. Despite this, the fans showed up for their Dynamo after what has been an intense past week. Even with the rain delay, the energy was kept up from start to finish.

“This is my first time in Houston with this kind of natural disaster, and the sense of community is real,” Ben Olsen said after the match. “Hopefully, we can all get back to normal soon.”

Houston will now pivot their sights to the west coast. They’ll be playing San Jose on Wednesday in what should be a tight affair.
