Dynamo 2 secured a crucial 2-1 victory over LAFC 2 at SaberCats Stadium Sunday night. Gabe Segal played a crucial role scoring twice, showcasing his skills with a long-range free kick & a powerful shot from outside the box. LAFC 2 found the net late, but goalkeeper Nico Hansen’s penalty save sealed the win for Houston.
Segal’s & Nico’s performances helped secure the team’s third consecutive win. Keep an eye on Dynamo 2 as they try to make a late season push for the playoffs!

We knew what Kenny Bundy’s DynaDos side were capable of from the start; disappointing results in the first part of the season distracted us from the bigger picture. This is a Dynamo 2 side that is starting to hit their stride, and they could be very hard to stop over the coming weeks. Gabe Segal has proven himself as a starter on this squad, and the first team, even with two DP strikers on the roster, must be eyeing the young American with great intrigue.
In this recent stretch of games, Nico Hansen is making his opportunity as a starter count, coming up with crucial saves down the stretch. Even though he wasn’t able to maintain a clean sheet this time, Nico’s penalty save in the dying moments of the match clinched the three points at home. Now, the question is if they can continue this midseason push towards the playoffs. It won’t be easy, but they have a game in hand over a couple of teams ahead of them. If they continue to get results, we could see Houston going to yet another MLS Next Pro playoff.
While it’s still obvious that the team is missing Exon Arzu, one of the fastest players on the squad, the 15 year-old phenom Mattheo Dimareli has taken over the right wing position and made it his own. If Arzu can recover well, there’s a chance we could see Dimareli and Arzu as an exciting tandem for the future. Good stuff!
