Arsenal 3-0 Real Madrid
The biggest story of the quarterfinal had to be Declan Rice doing his best Roberto Carlos impression and delivering a historic Arsenal victory against UEFA juggernauts Real Madrid. Rice’s two free kick golazos alongside a Mikel Merino screamer gave the English side a huge advantage entering the second leg next week.
Madrid’s offense was held back, and if they don’t adjust to what Arsenal was throwing, there could be even more embarrassment to come for the Spaniards in the second leg. Also, what has happened to Vinicius? He has dropped a level in recent months.
Inter Milan 2-1 Bayern Munich
Lautaro Martinez matched Declan Rice’s two free kicks with an insane trivela shot to give Inter an early lead, but Thomas Müller equalized for Bayern late into the second half. Just a few minutes later though, Inter got the winner and will play at home in the second leg with a 2-1 aggregate score.
The Italians are in prime position to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League, while Bayern will need to find a fix to their injury crisis if they want to stay alive in the competition.
PSG 3-1 Aston Villa
As of now, it seems like PSG and Barcelona are the favorites to win the UCL, and this result against Aston Villa are currently fifth in the Premier League, but Paris made them seem like any other Ligue 1 side.
The moment of the match was Kvaratskhelia´s top bin finish which gave PSG the 2-1 lead in the 49th minute, and Aston Villa would never recover.
FC Barcelona 4-0 Borussia Dortmund
While Madrid are flailing, Barcelona have become the most potent attack in the world, rivaled only by PSG, and they showed why they should be considered UEFA Champions League favorites with this result against Borussia Dortmund.
Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Lewandowski scored Barca’s four goals, and Hansi Flick was able to rotate his squad near the end of the match to avoid any shock injuries. These rotations saw Ansu Fati play his first minutes of 2025 for the club.
