The USL Championship Conference finals are finally upon us, and we could not be more excited here at Golz TV. We've got some great insight from a few of our friends here on Golz.tv!

Our USL Championship pick panel is back with a split on the West, but fully agreed on the Eastern Conference. Let's dive into these really fun storylines by starting with the 7:30pm EST game! 

Charleston Battery vs Louisville City FC

As we've said before, this Charleston Battery turnaround is nothing short of miraculous. From one of the worst teams to the East literally running through Patriots Point, it looks like the Battery are destined for a trip to the final. Despite all of our love for the Lowcountry, let us not forget about Louisville City FC. This team has had a great run through the playoffs with an utter dismantling of Detroit. 

The Howlers Podcast are always on the search for the untold and unreported stories in North American soccer. We wanted to let them give their take on the Battery vs City match after visiting Mt. Pleasant to watch some playoff soccer live. 

"It’s fitting these two teams meet for a final time this season in playoff format, since they drew both regular season matches by a score of 1-1 and 0-0. Charleston enter the game in exceptional form, having scored 7 goals in two matches while allowing just 1. Midfielders Arturo Rodriguez and Emilio Ycaza have been scorching hot for the Black and Yellow, while Louisville’s Cameron Lancaster and Wilson Harris have produced their own goal-scoring tandem duo. Patriots Point has been a worthy fortress so far this postseason, which might give Charleston the edge should the game stay neck and neck into the final minutes. This is USL soccer at its finest." 

Sacramento Republic FC vs Phoenix Rising FC

Our split on the panel was over the Western Conference final. The West's number-one seed has been good in these playoffs, but have failed to look overly dominant offensively. Their defense has been something else, but the Phoenix Rising have shown that they have little fear for any team from California. Kaylor Hodge of The USL Show gave us a great case for why he is all in on Sac Town in this West Coast matchup. 

"Since the beginning of 2022, Sacramento Republic have only lost 3 times at home. The Den of the Indomitable is a place that many teams grow to fear. One of those three teams to topple the Republic were Phoenix Rising back in September of 2022. This Phoenix Rising team has been on a California death march, killing the Loyal of San Diego and ending the season of Orange County. Now Formella, Armenakas, Trejo, Harvey, and Arteago look to do the Golden State Treble. The Sacramento Republic have had the best defense in the Championship this year, Wiedt, Donovan, Timmer, and Vitiello being the perfect counterbalance to the explosive offense of the Rising."
