Is FIFA planning to expand the World Cup to 64 teams? Hector Flores dives into the controversial proposal for the 2030 World Cup and why it's a bad idea. Plus, the unique format for the tournament's 100th anniversary.
The 2030 World Cup will celebrate 100 years since the first tournament. Opening matches in Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina honor the event's origins. However, the main hosts are Portugal, Spain, and Morocco. Hector questions this format and suggests Morocco could have bid for 2034 instead.
FIFA president Infantino is considering expanding the World Cup to 64 teams, up from the already increased 48-team format for 2026. Hector strongly opposes this idea, arguing it would diminish the tournament's exclusivity and make qualification too easy for some regions.
