Barcelona returns from the Christmas break as they take on the final opponent in the first round of La Liga in Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium. Following this match it will mark the halfway point in the league where the blaugrana side sees themselves seven points off the top. Being one of the newly promoted sides Las Palmas has had a great start to their season as they sit in the top half of the table and have impressed so far. Barcelona has been scrapping results recently and the cules around the world hope this Christmas break will serve as a reset. Xavi said in his press conference this morning that It's a difficult game. With the exception of Girona, Las Palmas are the revelation team of La Liga and they have an excellent coach who knows us well. I wish him the best and he is doing a great job. Overall this will be a difficult match, Las Palma's high line could give Barcelona opportunities and beyond but they have to be clinical, Las Palmas have gotten some big results at home this season so this won't be a walk in the park, pre-Christmas Barcelona would struggle massively but we have to hope that post-Christmas Barcelona can make a difference.

Barcelona got their first three points of the year after a last-second Ilkay Gundogan penalty secured the win over Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium. Yet again it was a shocking performance from the team especially since Las Palmas didn't play that well. The midfield and forwards were non-existent in the first half. The second half was better as we dominated and created chances. Xavi's team selection and substitutions were good and made necessary moves during the games as well. Overall it was a deserving win but lots of improvements are needed.

Deco is planning on acquiring a new winger in the summer transfer window, whether the options of Joao Felix or the return of Ansu Fati count remains to be seen but Deco wants a comprehensive singer to be signed with Savio, Leroy Sane, and Messinho being some options. The club will consider the potential sales of Robert Lewandowski and Ronald Araujo for different reasons, Lewandowski's age and salary will be a concern next season and his performance now will be a key factor, Barcelona is expecting a huge offer for Araujo and might be tempted of the offer is to good to refuse. Barcelona have in their mind to sign both Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix permanently this summer, both Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are awaiting the phone call from the blaugrana to communicate the final decision.
