The Dynamo have won just one game out of their last eight, which has prompted some panic from the supporters, especially after another tight game against LA Galaxy that didn’t go Houston’s way.

In the sixth minute, Andrew Tarbell, who made his first MLS start for Houston Dynamo since 2023, made a key save after a corner found Martín Cáceres in the box.

Later on, in the 18th minute, Latif Blessing took advantage of a mistake from John McCarthy. For Blessing, it was his first MLS goal for Houston in what was his 200th MLS appearance overall.

In the 44th minute, Miki Yamane’s cross found the head of Gabriel Pec, who was able to strike the ball into the net.

In the 49th minute, the home side almost took the lead, but Tarbell deflected a shot from former Barcelona talent Riqui Puig.

In the 59th minute however, LA Galaxy finally broke through and took the lead after Puig struck a long shot past Tarbell into the bottom corner.

In the 78th minute, Jefferson Valverde made his long-awaited Dynamo debut after being transferred from Ecuadorian giants LDU Quito.

After three minutes of stoppage time, the game ended with LA Galaxy coming away with the win, and the Dynamo were in the loss column once again.

“It’s annoying, but we created chances, including two goal line saves,” Erik Sviatchenko said after the game. “Everyone did their job, and we are getting close.”

The Dynamo have consistently outplayed their opponents in the first half, but they are unable to finish chances and wrap games up.

“The first half was one of the best halves I’ve seen this team play,” Ben Olsen said. “In the second half, it turned into a transition game, which we wanted to avoid.”

The Dynamo will wrap up their May schedule against Colorado on Wednesday, May 29. The game is set to start at 7:30 pm.
