1: To the left to the left, everything we had was going down the left. Points for trying, but nothing really threatening came of it. Grant it we are missing Xande but even with him in the XI we haven’t been able to create any attacking threats and that continues to be the case.

2: In the voice of Paula Cole Where is our set piece threat? Why can’t we score a goal? Where have all our free kicks gone? Seriously, we use to be somewhat productive from free kicks and corners and now we get very little from either.

3: We still look incredibly shaky on dead ball situations and resets in play. Literally with any stoppage in play we just don’t look ready when play resumes and the scouting report is out on that aspect of this team because we’re seeing more and more teams take free kicks and throw ins quickly.

4: We looked really good in the last 20 minutes. If we could just figure out the other 70 we might really have something. It continues to be a total mystery as to why we cannot play with urgency and attacking dynamism over the course of an entire 90 minutes. Clearly we can do it in moments. We just should be able to replicate that over an entire match.

5: We can’t count on our counter press. We don’t look in sync at all when we try to win the ball back. The players just look confused as to what the trigger for the press is. Credit to Slisz and also Dax, who we need to see more of FWIW, for individual efforts but it has to be more about the collective than one or two players.

Nick Markanich scored a spectacular bicycle kick for his fifth consecutive game with a goal as the Charleston Battery remained undefeated at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 1-0 win against Hartford Athletic at Patriots Point.

⁣Join me! As I travel to watch the USMNT play Mexico at Estadio Akron in Guadalajara

In this episode, we get a behind the scenes tour of Estadio Akron which will be a host venue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup! Then we watch with high hopes as new USMNT boss Mauricio Pochettino leads the USA against Mexico.

However, the match does not go as planned as the USA loses for the first time in 8 matches against Mexico. The match is not close as Raúl Jiménez scores a first-half free kick to send the hosts in front. Nothing changes second half as almost immediately after restart Cesar Huerta puts Mexico up two goals. An inverse of that famous scoreline, dos a cero in Andrés Guardado final match.

I am left very disappointed in USSF as they continue to show they are not up to the responsibility of running soccer in the United States

Lewis Hilton scored the decisive goal from the spot after goalkeeper Jordan Farr recorded a pair of saves as the Tampa Bay Rowdies advanced 3-1 in a penalty shootout against Detroit City FC at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday night after the sides had played to a 1-1 draw after extra time in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals of the 2024 USL Championship Playoffs presented by Terminix.
