Barcelona is in the market for a new manager come the summer as Xavi has announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, Joan Laporta and Deco are tasked with finding a new manager which won't be easy as the market is quite limited, names such as Hansi Flick, Jurgen Klopp, Mikel Arteta, Thiago Motta, and Imanol Alguacil are being mentioned for the time being but the process isn't fully underway yet. Barcelona is finalizing their official bid for Swedish wonderkind midfielder Lucas Bergvall, the deal will reach about ten million euros package including variables, Eintracht Frankfurt is a strong contender but Bergvall himself wants the move to Catalan as the deal is on the verge of completion. Mikayil Faye has attracted a lot of interest in the final few days of the transfer window as a bid for up to nine million euros was submitted but rejected by Barcelona as they see the player's future either as part of the first team or sell him for more money in the summer. Joao Felix suffered an ankle sprain on Tuesday ahead of the match against Osasuna which will leave him out for a few weeks, his participation in the UCL match against Napoli is in doubt.

Barcelona take on Villarreal at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in the first home match of 2024. The blaugrana side has gone almost fourty days without playing a home game. Barcelona is coming off the back of being knocked out of the Copa Del Rey and the confidence and morale are on the floor. Villarreal is having a terrible season for their expectations as they sit five points above the relegation zone and are on their third manager of the season. Xavi said in his press conference this morning that I'm happy to play at Montjuic again after more than a month. We need the public, Villareal is always a complicated team to play against, especially with Marcelino who always has organized teams. Overall with some of the big teams having a potential chance of dropping points, the boys have to stay on their toes, we need to regain our confidence and momentum ahead of the Champions League next month, dropped points in this game will guarantee chaos around the club and media.

Barcelona will take on Athletic Club at the San Mamés in the quarter-finals of the Copa Del Rey. This is a crucial match-up for the Blaugrana side as it's their best chance to win silverware this season. The Catalan side is coming off the back of a strong victory against Real Betis in the league with the performance being one of the best we've seen in months. While Athletic Club on the other hand lost their unbeaten run in all competitions as they lost to Valencia in the league. Xavi said in his press conference this morning that the players need to understand that playing for this club is a unique opportunity. I want the players to give 100% every game. Overall a game like this will always be difficult but being at the San Mames will make it ten times worse, in order for the team to progress they need to keep the crowd quiet by dominating the midfield, this is a good time to face Athletic Club so we shouldn't waste, keep composed and finish the chances we create and there is an opportunity to be in the final four of the cup.
