The club started as a girls’ youth club back in 2001, but now finds themselves starting USL League 2 play in 2024 aided by a deep history of youth development and the influx of male players in the Utah area. Barcelona is in the market for a new manager come the summer as Xavi has announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, Joan Laporta and Deco are tasked with finding a new manager which won't be easy as the market is quite limited, names such as Hansi Flick, Jurgen Klopp, Mikel Arteta, Thiago Motta, and Imanol Alguacil are being mentioned for the time being but the process isn't fully underway yet. Barcelona is finalizing their official bid for Swedish wonderkind midfielder Lucas Bergvall, the deal will reach about ten million euros package including variables, Eintracht Frankfurt is a strong contender but Bergvall himself wants the move to Catalan as the deal is on the verge of completion. Mikayil Faye has attracted a lot of interest in the final few days of the transfer window as a bid for up to nine million euros was submitted but rejected by Barcelona as they see the player's future either as part of the first team or sell him for more money in the summer. Joao Felix suffered an ankle sprain on Tuesday ahead of the match against Osasuna which will leave him out for a few weeks, his participation in the UCL match against Napoli is in doubt.

Joshua Kimmich is a player that Barcelona is heavily tracking for the summer transfer window as a pivot reinforcement and Rafael Leão could be an option for a new left winger as the club is monitoring a winger in Seria A. Barcelona is in the market for a new manager come the summer as Xavi has announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, Joan Laporta and Deco are tasked with finding a new manager which won't be easy as the market is quite limited, at the moment the favourite is Hansi Flick alongside Thomas Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi is liked but difficult to sign. The club has set their conditions to sign Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo on a permanent transfer, Cancelo is very likely to continue with an agreement expected to be reached with Manchester City but Joao Felix depends on how lenient Atletico Madrid is. Barcelona has sent a renewal offer to Frenkie de Jong of a contract until 2029 with a salary reduction, De Jong's entourage hasn't responded to the offer which was sent a few weeks ago but the club is expecting an answer in the coming weeks.

Barcelona have already informed Jorge Mendes of their plan to keep both Félix and Cancelo. Laporta and Deco agree on the plan and Hansi Flick has given his green light. Concrete talks with their clubs are yet to start but both want to stay. The club like Mikel Merino a lot and believe he would fit perfectly into Hansi Flick’s type of football. Merino is out of contract in 2025 and would be cheaper than Kimmich. Xavi was more inclined towards a positional pivot in Guido Rodríguez but that operation is frozen since days and they believe Merino suits Flick’s style more. If Vitor Roque leaves this summer, Barça will need someone to be Robert Lewandowski's back-up. There are several names on the table, and Marc Guiu's and Ansu Fati's are among them. In Madrid, they say that even Borja Mayoral is a target, and Mason Greenwood, too. Barcelona’s agreement with Nike will be officially announced in the next days. Barça will receive a renewal bonus of more than €100m. Nike will pay between €105m and €120m fixed per season and a series of variables that will be paid by Nike based on trophies won.

Barcelona takes on Valencia in La Liga action at the difficult Mestalla Stadium in a match that hopefully the club will use to bounce back after recent form. The blaugrana side is currently experiencing its lowest point of the season coming off the back of two embarrassing, detrimental losses. The manager and the players are under an immense amount of pressure to get a positive result during this game. Valencia has been quite alright this season especially for their expectations as they linger around mid-table in the league. Xavi said in his press conference this morning that for us it is a final because we need points. The problem with everything is that in the League we are not where we should be. The defeat against Madrid & Girona has weighed on us and we have to recover points. Overall anything other than a win and the alarm bells will be ringing so loud they'll be heard across the world, both the manager and the players literally can not afford to lose this game in any capacity at all, the players really need to turn up and put in the performance that leads to a win.

Barcelona returns from the Christmas break as they take on the final opponent in the first round of La Liga in Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium. Following this match it will mark the halfway point in the league where the blaugrana side sees themselves seven points off the top. Being one of the newly promoted sides Las Palmas has had a great start to their season as they sit in the top half of the table and have impressed so far. Barcelona has been scrapping results recently and the cules around the world hope this Christmas break will serve as a reset. Xavi said in his press conference this morning that It's a difficult game. With the exception of Girona, Las Palmas are the revelation team of La Liga and they have an excellent coach who knows us well. I wish him the best and he is doing a great job. Overall this will be a difficult match, Las Palma's high line could give Barcelona opportunities and beyond but they have to be clinical, Las Palmas have gotten some big results at home this season so this won't be a walk in the park, pre-Christmas Barcelona would struggle massively but we have to hope that post-Christmas Barcelona can make a difference.

He talks about the season that has been for the expansion club, his leadership role as the “old” guy, his time with US Soccer, and the winding road of MLS, loans, and Prague nights out to end up in the PNW.
